:. Combat Armor

Several forms of armor have been developed to protect Rangers from enemy weapons fire (energy and projectile) and increase their survivability.

Each suit of armor contains the equivalent of the enhanced tactical sensors found in the CTS-8911 Force Recon Tricorder System and an I-LINK 106 PCS. For protection against threat transporters, each suit is equipped with a Heisenberg Scrambler, which makes attaining a transporter lock difficult to impossible when activated. Each suit is also equipped with a modified M-100 IDF to protect the user from the jarring forces the armor is capable of withstanding.

Additionally, each suit contains a tactical computer that can network its sensors with any weapons the Ranger is carrying as well as the CEMS. Also, armored Rangers can be deployed in zero G environments with the addition of a Booster/RCS Thruster Pack.

All Combat Armor comes with a corresponding FE-7803A MIPPA helmet, i.e., light, medium or heavy. The exception is the PPG-006 Covert Infiltration Suit, which comes with a baklava of the same design.

The PPG-006 CIS is used to infiltrate threat starships, star bases, or surface installations.  The suit is designed for covert infiltration, not combat, and should never be used as armor. The PPG-006 takes some design features from the PPG-005 Extended Wear Undergarment and expands on them.

Primarily an airtight, waterproof fabric, the suit forms a sealed environment to isolate the Ranger from the external environment.  A PPM-210B, a modified PPM-200B Circulating Breather, allows for operations in non-Class M conditions.

For minimal protection, the suit covers the vital organs with layers of the same energy-absorbing mesh of duranium and polynueucleonic fiber used in the MIPPA vest.  An inner thermal layer resists the temperature rise of the fiber when it is struck by an energy blast.  A deflector net is worn underneath the suit.  The outer layer of the suit is thermally controlled to match the thermal signature of the ambient environment or any surfaces in contact with the suit.

The PPG-006 also incorporates the EWD-189J "Eloflage" Personal Electronic Interdiction System.
