Special Operations Rangers (SOR) |

The mission of the Special Operations Rangers (SOR) is that of deep penetration
into enemy territory for the purpose of intelligence gathering.
Their mission should not be confused with those of other Special
Operations units, i.e., insurgent development, long term
intelligence gathering, Civil Affairs, or PsyOps.
It is the mission of the SOR to enable the Federation the ability to strike deep into the heart of the enemy and to return home safe. The Starfleet Special Operations Ranger program is a true "purple suit" organization. The term "purple suit" comes from the combined colors of both Starfleet and Starfleet Marines. In other words, the Starfleet Special Operations Rangers is a combined forces organization. The ranks of SOR is filled by members of both branches. If you want to join the SOR for the praise and glory associated with Rangers and their missions, then you are in for a rude awaking. Much of the work done by Ranger units is never known. It is by the very nature of their work that the Federation may never know what they have done. Such is the world of Special Operations. One does not get into such units for the attention, but for the satisfaction of doing a very dangerous job well. It is the knowledge of doing a job that few can, or even would attempt, to do.
